Product Maintenance
Be certain that the fountain is placed on a flat, level surface – do not place the product on hardwood floors unless properly leveled. Use distilled
water for interior fountains when possible, as this will prevent the buildup of naturally occurring impurities commonly found in tap water.
Perform monthly cleaning of the Zen Fountain pump and decorative rocks with a wet paper towel or soft rag. Water evaporation will occur in most
environments, so it is a good idea to check water levels and fill Zen Fountains regularly prior to use. The condition of your household water,
temperature and Zen Fountain usage will determine the level of care needed for your fountain. For instance, fountains that run constantly in dry
environments will need to be filled more frequently due to evaporation. Generally, after you assemble your Zen Pot, it requires just a bit of regular
effort to keep your Zen Pot thriving.
When not in use, unplug the fountain from the outlet. Remove all water and mechanical components - dry thoroughly. Store in a cool, dry place.
If the pump is noisy, add water. Inspect the water level regularly to confirm that your pump is completely submerged - an inadequate water level will
produce a "hissing" sound. Remove the pump from the fountain, clean it with a small brush to remove any debris especially in the water intake area.
Higher pump speeds will increase the rate of water flow and the sound of falling water. A higher pump speed setting may also produce a greater visual
water flow effect. As a result it may produce louder "splashing" sounds in some rooms. You may wish to adjust the speed of your pump to a lower setting
in non-carpeted rooms and those with higher sound reverberation. A properly filled fountain will produce lower sound levels, while low water levels produce
louder splashing sounds.
Our Build Sheet displays what plants we have available with each Zen Pot, but we typically include either lucky bamboo or a variety of succulents with
most orders.
Bamboo is no different from more “usual” houseplants and require the same amenities: sufficient water,
indirect sunlight (or artificial lighting) and adequate humidity. Succulents are similar to lucky bamboo, but requires less water and fertilizer. If any plant dies in your Zen Pot, the
included planters pop-out easily and you can re-plant anything else you desire in its place.
